Abstract

I am pleased to take up Dr. Lieth’s proposal to make some concluding remarks on this symposium. It was, I believe, very rewarding as seen from the viewpoint of ecological science. Many ecologists, biologists, foresters and other scientists coming from different parts of the world have been able to exchange their views and to present them to representatives of the “land users”, in particular to staff members of Mitsubishi Corporation who sponsored this symposium.
