Abstract
The first step in the study of a foraminiferal fauna is the qualitative taxonomic determination of the specimens. If the sampling methods permit, a subsequent quantitative study can be made. The data from these observations can be utilized in analysis of present ecological and oceanographic conditions. These data may also provide tools for the understanding of paleoecologic and paleooceanographic conditions. In this chapter several types of faunal studies and their interpretations will be described and discussed.
