Abstract
A new family Atriplectididae is proposed for the Australian caddisfly genus Atriplectides MOSELY, which so far is represented by only one species, Atriplectides dubius MOSELY. The new family is related to the family Odontoceridae, but differs in larval, pupal and adult characteristics. It is suggested that the genus Hughscottiella ULMER from Seychelles might also belong to the new family. Together with the family diagnosis the description of the larva and pupa of Atriplectides dubius is also given. The larva possesses an unusual capability to extend and retract the pronotum.
