Abstract

Elaborate remote sensing of ionized gases is based on the study of their optical line spectrum. Whereas the conventional intensity spectroscopic methods already attained the limits of their possibilities, polarization spectroscopy represents by itself a new optical diagnostic technique which expands considerably the frontiers of the studies of ionized gases by optical methods.
