The Science and Politics of Plant Biotechnology 2002 and Beyond

Abstract

The 10^th IAPTC&B Congress is the first large gathering of the international plant tissue culture and biotechnology community in the 21^st century and the 3^rd millennium. As such, it offers us the unique opportunity not only to take a critical look at the contributions of plant biotechnology during the 20^th century, but more significantly, to consider how this technology can contribute to human welfare by meeting the many difficult challenges that we face in the 21^St century.
