Abstract

A short survey is given of the development of the “Internationale Arbeitgruppe Aktiver Phytoplanktologen” into “International Association for Phytoplankton Taxonomy and Ecology” — from informal Central European meetings to a truly international forum. A list of all the thirteen meetings till now is appended.
