Abstract
The present constitution dates from 1996.
The President is indirectly elected for a five-year term. He or she is responsible to parliament and can be forced to resign, like the government, by a vote of no confidence. In addition to the office of President there can be one or more Deputy-Presidents, to be designated by those parties in parliament that hold more than 80 seats. The President and the Deputy-Presidents are part of the government.
