Abstract

In the preceding chapter I tried to support my statement that Aspects cannot be taken as semantic primitives assigned to Verbs by showing that the term ‘Aspects’ appears to be applicable to configurations of certain categories generated by the base. The mechanism underlying the composition of the Aspects seems relatively clear: a certain fundamental subcategory of an underlying V is combined with a complex set of categories of a nominal nature and pertaining to quantity.
