Abstract

Many decision problems are characterised by a situation where a choice must be made between different alternatives on the basis of not one but a set of criteria; these criteria will often be conflicting to a certain extent and the different criteria will carry varying degrees of importance in the decision process. This type of decision situation is typical of a multicriteria problem.
