Abstract
The following considerations are contributions to a discussion concerning the value of life and the limits of medical intervention. The basis for this thesis is a classical Hindu system, which is not only a system of values but a whole philosophy of life. To what extent does the Hindu philosophy of life, with its law of karma which somehow limits freedom of choice, allow human intervention in matters of health and sickness?
