Abstract

The interpretative problems of quantum mechanics motivated a new analysis of classical probability theory leading to the conclusion that some basic probabilistic notions, considered for centuries to be intrinsic to the very notion of probability, are in fact model dependent statements, like Euclid’s parallel postulate. This is the basic tenet of quantum probability.
