Abstract
There is no simple definition of a multinational business. The Geneva Statistical Office describes a multinational as a “company or group of companies of relatively important size whose principal activities (production or services) are exercised in several countries, generally covering an extended geographic area, and which are the object of centralized management or control.” Some definitions could exclude companies with less than five employees, those operating in less than three countries, or companies such as airlines or certain banks with branches or sales representation outside their home headquarters.
