Abstract
Systems of inshore fisheries management have tended to receive rather less critical attention within the wider critiques of fisheries management. As a result, there is a notable lack of material for comparative analysis or upon which to found effective policy decisions and development. This volume has taken a step towards redressing the balance, firstly by collating information in respect of seven EU Member States and, secondly, by highlighting a number of key issues common to most if not all the countries under study and central to the future direction of European inshore fisheries governance.
