Abstract
It is a privilege and great pleasure for me to welcome you to this 10th Symposium on Insect-Plant Relationships, especially as I see so many friends and dear colleagues. In particular, however, I would like to welcome those of you who are attending a SIP meeting for the first time, because scientific progress depends primarily on a continuous input of new blood and fresh ideas. As more than 50% of the scheduled communications will be presented by first-timers in this symposium series, an ample supply of fresh views seems to be ensured.
