Abstract

In this paper, we identify the main issues that must be taken into account in the design of a transaction model for a federated information system which accepts read-only transactions. These aspects include the definition of the federated transactions structure, the operations to be performed by federated transactions, the objects to be accessed by federated transactions, the federated transaction correctness properties, the federated transaction results and the correctness properties of the histories generated by the transaction model. We also present the execution architecture that is in place once the federated information system has already been built.
