Abstract
We propose to rename the structure formerly known as Teague ring structure (Butler, 1974; Bunting et al., 1982), “the Shoemaker Impact Structure”, in honour of Eugene Merle Shoemaker (1928 — 1997), as a tribute to his and Carolyn Shoemaker’s major contributions to the study of Australian impact structures and meteoritic research. Eugene Shoemaker tragically died in a car accident while on his way to conduct further studies on this and other structures in inland Australia.
