Abstract

To facilitate the safe and secure dismantlement of surplus nuclear weapons, the U.K. has provided an equipment package of 250 supercontainers and more than 20 heavy logistic vehicles. The supercontainers have been designed to meet specific parameters including ballistic protection, thermal capability and weight and size restrictions. The vehicles have also been adapted to suit the conditions in which they will operate. It is understood that both containers and vehicles are now in operational use.
