Comparative Plant Ecology

Abstract

The Autecological Accounts in Chapter 5 of this book present an opportunity to comment on the progress which has been achieved by ecologists working on the vascular flora of the British Isles. The accounts also provide a basis upon which to identify methods of study and types of information which are either proving their value, or through their absence are limiting progress, in the quest for a general framework for ecological and evolutionary theory and for vegetation conservation and management.
