Abstract
Information visualization encounters a wide variety of different data domains The visualization community has developed many different representation methods and interactive techniques. As a community, we have realized that the requirements in each domain are often dramatically different. In order to understand, classify, and easily apply existing graphical representation methods in separate domains, researchers have developed a taxonomy and semiology of graphic representations methods [14, 25, 24, 101]. A major difference between current information visualization work and past work on graphic design is the development of interactivity. The dialog between human and computer enriches the communication of information.
In a much larger study..., the construction of the table depends not only on the data but especially on the hypotheses and the available means for reducing these data. These means are the mathematical and graphical methods of information-processing.
