Abstract
The “rational-irrational” dichotomy (Jackson, 1988) has deep and farreaching consequences. Rational behavior, insofar as it is adjusted to the rule of rationality, is regulated, structured, and predictable. Any departure from rationality, especially if it is serious, should be expected to drive behavior towards the opposite end of lack of regulation, structure, and predictability.
