Abstract

Managers have a seemingly endless desire for new concepts (Abrahamson 1996). One such concept that has attracted a lot of attention in recent years and continues to be in the limelight is knowledge management. It is almost as if the meaning of knowledge has been rediscovered. Yet as fresh as the hype might be, this concept too is already showing the first signs of flagging. It seems that a management trend only lasts as long as it takes for a new manager to shine. The golden age of knowledge management has come and gone, ‘communities of practice’, portals and e-learning are the latest buzz-words.
