Abstract
This chapter will cover QOL research from a different perspective, a perspective from the vantage of specific public or private sector such as travel and tourism, childcare, casino and gambling, tobacco and smoking, television, and entrepreneurship. There are many QOL researchers interested in assessing the societal QOL of an industry at large. For example, in this part we will expose the reader to QOL research dealing with travel and tourism. Here, QOL researchers focus on assessing the positive as well as negative impact of the tourism industry on host communities or countries, i.e., the QOL of the local residents of the tourist destination sites. Similarly, QOL researchers examine the positive and negative impact of the tobacco industry, the casino industry, the childcare industry, and the small business sector.
