Abstract

A system of distributions defined over different scales is formulated. It can be applied to most morphological features describing the smaller scale structure of ice specimens or the sea ice cover. The system allows downscaling, or the determination of smaller scale characteristics from larger scale characteristics. A distribution model, generated by a combined Poisson and clustering process, is derived and applied to ridge density.
