Abstract
We present a powerful new hypocenter location method based on an extension of the unconstrained Neider and Mead Simplex method. This method incorporates linear and nonlinear constraints into the location scheme in an efficient manner. We demonstrate the merit of the method by locating events incorporating constraints given by P arrival order, S-P times, and back azimuths.
