Abstract
Although women now represent approximately half of the students in Western Europe countries, there are disciplines in which their proportion remains low. This is the case for engineering. In this paper we will first present some data on the European situation. Then we will discuss in more details the French case. Finally we will explain why it is necessary that the proportion of women in engineering should increase in Europe.
