Symptoms of the Future: Living in the Threshold

  • Stephen A. Erickson
Part of the Philosophical Studies in Contemporary Culture book series (PSCC, volume 6)

Throughout this book I have been exploiting an ambiguity. The ambiguity involves our relation to thresholding itself. Are we its authors? Or are we written by it? Is it something we do? Or is it something that simply happens to us? The reason this is a problematic ambiguity is that in each case both answers are correct. It is part of the vocation of the thresholder to do many things, but also to allow their occurrence.
