Abstract
This survey is devoted to certain number theoretic, computational and algorithmic problems in finite fields such as polynomial factorization over finite fields, finding irreducible and primitive polynomials, the distribution of these polynomials and the distribution of primitive and other special points on elliptic curves, constructing various special bases in extensions of finite fields and others. New applications of finite fields to other areas of mathematics and computer science are within our scope as well.
