Causal Relationship between Environmental Transformation and Violent Conflict

New theories normally start with attempts at explaining puzzles because they deal with social or political phenomena which are not subjects of existing theories. Now, after having collected and described so many puzzles and after having created several general patterns with the help of the single pieces I proceed to a systematic explanation of environmental conflicts in terms of why and how environmental conflicts escalate into open conflict between different actors. In order to provide a systematic comparison of different cases reaching general conclusions, I will introduce criteria enabling me to falsify the hypothesis of this study. Tentative rather than definitive conclusions have to be reached. The propositions are therefore essentially probability statements describing likely relationships.
