Abstract
The growth of the activities on the Internet, especially the World Wide Web, is causing a revolution in the way information is delivered in education, commerce, and government. Sophisticated Internet resources, which began appearing early in this decade, are now commonplace. Librarians, long regarded as information specialists, are suddenly finding many other players in their field. This new phenomenon challenges the role of the librarians from one who acquires and organizes printed materials to that of managing dynamic communication mechanisms.
