Abstract
The library as a provider of information should present development in information technology, new information media and communication methods. Though it isn’t easy in a period of severe budget cuts, unappropriate status of the library within the university or broader social systems, lack of qualified librarians, the University Library of P.J. Safarik University tries to introduce results both to its users and staff. It was the first place where university faculty and students have had access to INTERNET, to hypertext documents, and to CD-ROM databases.
