Abstract

Governor Cuomo convened the New York State Task Force on Life and the Law in March 1985. He charged the Task Force to make recommendations for public policy on issues posed by medical advances, including the determination of death, decisions about life-sustaining treatment, the issuance of do not resuscitate (DNR) orders, the treatment of disabled newborns, organ transplantation and the new reproductive technologies.
