A Description of the Scanning Electrochemical Microscope (SECM) and of Its Applications

  • Chapter
Book cover Nanoscale Probes of the Solid/Liquid Interface

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSE,volume 288))

Abstract

Because it can be used to perform electrochemical experiments with a very high spatial resolution, the scanning electrochemical microscope has, in the last six years, excited a great deal of interests. An attempt is made to define the principles of the technique, describe the instrumentation, highlight some of the theoretical aspects and review the applications with an emphasis on imaging, microfabrication and electroanalytical measurements.
