Abstract
In chapter 5 we considered necessary connections between law and morals (5.3 and 5.4) and Hart’s brief comments about causal influences between them (5.4.2). This chapter considers another of the four topics about the relations between law and morals that Hart distinguishes (LLM, 1–4), namely, using criminal law to enforce a society’s morality. The last chapter takes up Hart’s views on the moral criticism of law, which he developed only for criminal punishment.
