Abstract
The integration trend within the world economy involves regional and other associative arrangements, as well as global initiatives (Machlup, ed., 1976). Since the end of World War II, multinational economic agreements have proliferated, both reinforcing and counteracting the broad globalization trend itself. Not all of these arrangements constitute regimes; some, such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), are primarily consultative arrangements, and others are loose associations with limited structure and impact.
