Abstract

The sexual exploitation of patients or clients by health professionals has attracted much attention during the last decade, alarming professionals and public alike. The violation of generally agreed upon boundaries between counselor (physician, therapist) and counselee is paralleled by similar violations of the accepted and acceptable roles of the clergy. The public seems to be even more offended by violations of sacramental vows than by breaches of conduct set forth in the Oath of Hippocrates.
