Abstract

Successful renal transplantation will return to essentially normal health the patient whose sole problem was chronic renal failure. This implies that a definite improvement in quality of life is experienced. The restoration of adequate energy levels and increased subjective well-being, should permit a return to the activities undertaken prior to the onset of renal failure. This transition requires considerable psychological adjustment by the patient, who may need help and support to achieve rehabilitation. The misinformed attitudes of some of the people who surround the patient may hamper the rehabilitation process.
