Abstract

Part I defined this study in terms of existing literature and applicable theories, as well as its empirical research methodology and design. Part II examines the field studies among scientist-started new ventures in detail. These field studies were specifically designed with the primary objective of observing the planning, entrepreneurial, and early management processes in such scientist-started firms and chapter 5 reports on these findings. Yet the study also yielded significant additional data not directly related to these processes, touching upon socio-economic factors and such other aspects as technology transfer, university relationships, and comparative management issues.
