Abstract
The ultimate recipient of benefits from the new technology should be, of course, the consumer. The retail user will have available exotic new money forms which provide greater utility and convenience than ever before at comparable or lower real cost levels. However, a number of important questions are beginning to be asked about the extent to which consumers will promptly receive the promised benefits or whether some are available only at the cost of offsetting trade-offs.
