Abstract

The results of epidemiological and socio-economic research over the past 10 years have led to much questioning of our health care delivery systems. For example, many of the characteristics thought peculiar to mental health are now found to be true, of health in general. Although, at the macro level, we still await an integrated model, there is now a consensus of opinion that, traditionally, the socio-economic variables have been under-valued and the medical over-valued.
