Abstract
My company has had to investigate some of the problems concerned with finger-jointing for other reasons than those which normally bring about investigations by institutes. It has specialized on the production of a special type of finger-jointing cutter with cutting segments of solid carbide. This means a drastic reduction of stress in the carbide and therefore combines the strength of the carbide with its good resistance against wearing. The cutters have 2 to 4 times longer working time between sharpening in softwood and 30 to 60 times longer in hardwood compared with hss cutters.
