Picosecond Absorption Saturation Dynamics of New [M(R,R’timdt)2] Metal-Dithiolenes

  • Chapter
Nonlinear Optics for the Information Society

Abstract

The nonlinear absorption properties of new fluorinated neutral metal-dithiolenes belonging to the general class [M(R,R’timdt)2] (M = Ni, Pd, Pt; R,R’timdt = monoreduced form of disubstituted imidazolidine-2,4,5-trithione) have been studied. The absorption has been found to saturate with the incident light intensity and the temporal evolution of the absorption saturation has been investigated by means of the picosecond time-resolved pump-probe technique. We observed a strong dependence of both the saturation intensity and the temporal dynamics on the metal ion.
