Abstract
To be effective, a drug must reach its site of action in sufficient quantity to exert its desired effect. This dose-response relationship for a drug is influenced by many factors including the rate of release of drug from the formulation, the metabolism of the drug, the vascularity of the target tissue and the uptake of drug or active metabolite by the receptors.
