Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to bring together a series of examples of the way different mining companies determine their ore-reserves. A wide range of mineral deposits are covered from industrial minerals to basic metals; from precious metals to sands and gravels. The techniques discussed also range from the more sophisticated geostatistical and computerized approach to the more straightforward manual computations using geometrical and/or statistical methods.
