Abstract

Although it is almost impossible nowadays to read a newspaper or watch a film or television without encountering some aspect of sex, many people still feel shy and awkward about discussing their own problems with others. This is perfectly normal and understandable; after all, the love between two people is a very private and personal part of the pattern of their lives. However, ignorance about sex and family planning can cause a lot of misery and worry, and this is particularly true when couples know that their children may inherit a disorder like haemophilia.
