Abstract
I propose to set down some theological reflections of a Christian philosopher. This may well prompt one to ask whether I here present myself as a theologian or as a philosopher, and leads me to write this little introductory essay in a somewhat more personal style than those which follow. The question must be answered in this more personal and concrete manner, for it is a personal question. Most of us at least will admit readily enough the sharp distinction between philosophical reason and theology as the search for and achievement of some understanding of the divine revelation accepted in faith. But here there is question of the basic orientation and drive of a concrete human intellect, not of this well-known distinction between philosophy and theology.
