Abstract

Studies on prehistoric medicine in the Netherlands or elsewhere made by Dutch scholars are relatively rare. Contributions on primitive medicine as observed in the Far East and elsewhere are more numerous. Especially in the ages in which medical care was rare in the country, but also long afterwards, folk medicine was necessarily applied extensively in the Netherlands, and it is still practised on a smaller scale.
