The influence of semen quality on in vitro fertilization of human oocytes

Abstract

In an in vitro fertilization (IVF) programme semen analysis was carried out on 140 patients. Of these, 111 (79%) were able to fertilize at least one preovulatory oocyte in vitro and an embryo transfer could be performed in 90 patients. Seventeen pregnancies could be observed and to date two healthy children have been born.
