On the Association of Coeliac Disease with Allergic Disorders. A Study of Family Histories of 110 Families with One or Two Children with Coeliac Disease

The Genetics of Coeliac Disease

Abstract

There is increasing evidence that the human HLA system contains immune response (Ir) determinants that control immune responsiveness towards a variety of antigens. In immunopathic disorders the Ir gene seems to be in linkage disequilibrium preferentially with the B and D loci of the HLA system. In coeliac disease compared to a normal population there is a significantly increased frequency of HLA-B8 and DRw3.
