Abstract

The calculation of LVV from the contour- and other data, as well as the computation of derived quantities (stroke work from PV-relation, ejection fraction, regurgitation fraction, correlation with other parameters e.g. RR-intervals) has to be performed with a digital computer. As minicomputers are becoming less expensive every day, the use of these may be considered if a self-contained LVV-measurement system is to be developed. The programming has to be done in machine code in this case. If computing facilities are already present, either from a central institute or in the clinic, limitations in core memory space may be present. In general then, a monitor programme services various users on a time-sharing basis. Under these circumstances, a modular structure of the software package is of importance.
