Abstract

This fascinating disease is produced by the scabetic mite (sarcoptes scabie; hominis) (Fig. 5) living on the surface of a patient who has an as yet unknown defect in his cellular immunity mechanism. These hosts may be mentally retarded (Fig. 1, shown with her mother) or physically debilitated.
